Maris has an efficient and dedicated core team who manage all stages of the translation project, from beginning to end, with commitment and competence. We can answer your queries in English, Finnish, German, and French.
Our core team comprises Maarit, Laura, Noora, Teija, Jenni, Erika and Alma, and you also have access to the expert services of our global network of partners.
Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola is the founder and Managing Director of Maris Multilingual. She holds an M.A. in translation of English and Swedish from the University of Helsinki, and she has worked in the translation industry since 1986.
Maarit is an active member of a number of industry associations. She was the president of the Association of Finnish Translation Companies (SKTOL) from 2009 to 2011, and actively involved in the work of the EUATC (European Union of Associations of Translation Companies) for many years, including organising the 2012 conference in Helsinki. Maarit is currently a member in the Growth and Internationalisation committee of the Häme Chamber of Commerce and a board member in Lahden Yrittäjät, the local association of the Federation of Finnish Enterprises in Lahti.

Laura works as a translator and translation project manager at Maris. She translates English, Swedish and French texts into Finnish, revises translations, and is in charge of training new translators.
After a number of years of living and travelling abroad, Laura landed in a small village in southern Finland, where she spends her free time renovating a 100-year old country house.

Noora is especially interested in technical, marketing and medical translations, and she also coordinates projects from international clients at Maris. In addition, she is an authorised translator from English into Finnish.
Noora’s roots are in Southwest Finland and her spare time hobbies include handicraft, literature and interior decoration.

Through her studies and work experience, she has gained special expertise in the travel business. Teija is an authorised translator from English into Finnish, and has completed basic studies in business law and preliminary courses in Russian.

In her work, Jenni communicates fluently in English and Finnish. She is interested in languages and cultures, and she can also speak Swedish and some Spanish. Jenni’s leisure-time activities include handicrafts and growing and collecting indoor plants.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, majoring in corporate communications.
Erika’s favourite hobby is music in its many forms. She also loves pets, especially her 10-year-old Shetland sheepdog.

Alma has prior work experience from the game industry, among other things, where she worked as a translation coordinator, translator and content provider.
In her free time, she likes to swim, cycle and play the ukulele. She also sings in a choir.
